How do I enroll?Enrollment is done online. Families can enroll any time of the year. Once a Family Account is set up, you have the flexibility to schedule make-up classes via the Parent Portal, view billing information, and access home materials.
-
How do I pay?Monthly tuition payments are set up as auto-pay via credit card and are run on the 10th of the month. Because you have the flexibility to make up classes we do not refund lessons. When it is time to unenroll your child, you must do this by informing Michelle 30 days prior to your unenrollment to ensure you do not get billed for the next monthly unit.
-
Do you have class routines and rituals?Kindermusik curriculum is research-based and developmentally structured to ensure optimal learning for your child. Each level has routines and rituals that benefit your child, but these are learned by attending regularly. Please expect to attend 4-6 classes before your child learns the routines and is familiar with the environment. Kindermusik Educators understand this and will offer ways in and out of the classroom on how to encourage participation. Note that not all children develop the same way at the same time. It is not uncommon for children to observe in the studio and then show you they remember what they have learned at home.
-
What is your policy on make-up classes?Families have unlimited make-up classes as long as they are currently enrolled. It is preferred that you make up your classes as soon as possible so you do not miss unit lessons. To book your make-up class, go to My Account in the Parent Portal.
-
Once enrolled, can I access Kindermusik materials at home?Age specific home materials are found in the Parent Portal or on the app, on the start date of class. Families are encouraged to use these resources at home to support learning that takes place in class. Access to these digital resources, including the “Best of” album featuring favorite songs from your child’s level, is available while you are enrolled, and one week following unenrollment. You get a “Best of” album plus 3 bonus tracks of your choice that stay on the app indefinitely. Click here to download the Free Kindermusik app.
-
Can I change enrollment?Changing classes is easy and can be done in the Parent Portal. You can also talk with your instructor who can switch classes for you. Unenrolling from a class requires that you contact Michelle at least 30 days in advance to avoid further charges. To learn about the different age level classes, please click here.
-
Do you have enrollment minimums? We reserve the right to cancel a class if there are not enough participants. While we don’t have a strict policy on the minimum, we like to have at least 4 children in a class. Enrollment online will indicate when classes are full. You will be notified via email should a class be canceled/changed and you will be able to choose another class to attend if there is availability.
-
What if I have more than one child?Siblings are enrolled at a discounted price. Siblings may or may not be enrolled in the same class. Siblings under age 6 months may join you in class for no cost. Mixed Age classes are a great place for families with more than one child enrolled.
-
What is your inclement weather policy?Little Light Studio will follow the Cedar Falls district for CLOSINGS only. If school is delayed we will make independent decisions related to weather cancellations. Notifications will be made on our Facebook & Instagram accounts, website, and KWWL. Please also check your phone and email if you have any questions about weather (by toggling Allow Text Messages on your account you will be set up to receive text alerts from us when class is canceled). Classes canceled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. Families are instead encouraged to use the Parent Portal to schedule a make-up class.
-
What is your policy on child illness? As a courtesy to other families and educators, please stay home when you or your child is not feeling well. We understand that runny noses are common with teething and allergies, but if your child has a runny nose that accompanies any other symptoms, please use your best judgment and err on the side of caution. Please use the Parent Portal to reschedule your class.
-
Do classes continue all year? The studio is open for ongoing classes all year with three scheduled breaks without tuition (middle of Aug-Sept, Dec-Jan, May-June), as well as the week of Independence Day and Thanksgiving. Special Camps are offered in the Summer during our scheduled break.
-
Can I purchase items used in class?Kindermusik licensed instruments, books, toys, apparel, etc, can be purchased online at our new Affiliate kindermusik store and are shipped directly to your home. Using these physical materials is another great way to supplement your child’s learning at home. (These make great gifts too!)
-
Can I purchase a Gift Certificate?Gift certificates are available in any amount. They may be ordered and purchased by contacting Michelle directly at the studio or via email.
-
How do I know which class is best for my child? All Kindermusik classes are research-based, strategically planned and developmentally structured to ensure that your child is getting the best learning while truly enjoying the activities. To understand class levels by age, please click here for class descriptions. If you have further questions, contact Michelle directly who can guide and help you find the best fit for your family.

What is the difference between Age Specific and Mixed Age classes?Age Specific classes are offered by "Level" (e.g., one year olds are in Level 1) because each stage of childhood brings with it different milestones and learning tools. From vocal range to instrument safety to attention span, every age is different. Age specific classes are designed to help children truly enjoy the activities and meet appropriate developmental milestones. Mixed-age classes are appropriate for families, groups, and parents who appreciate the joy of children engaging and learning together at varying developmental ages. These classes are taught with the Level 2 curriculum and are adapted to fit the ages of the children in class.
